Phoenix and Tucson Celebrate World Refugee Day 2008: June 20th

,

Refugee Rights Are Human RightsEvery year, June 20th marks World Refugee Day, a day designated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to remember the plight of millions of refugees worldwide, their strength and resilience, and their contributions to their new home countries. This year, the world will commemorate World Refugee Day with the theme “Refugee Rights Are Human Rights.” World Refugee Day Planning Committees both in Phoenix and Tucson are organizing a series of events to help both raise awareness about the global plight of refugees and to celebrate and showcase refugees who have made a new home in Arizona. ..
